My name is Kumpak*, and I’m a 6 year old survivor.
I am 6 years old and I am a survivor of sexual exploitation. I was often unsupervised and vulnerable to being harassed by men. I was living in an abusive environment before being rescued and I have never felt safe. I am starting school for the first time, love to jump on trampolines at the SHE Home and my favourite foods are chicken and strawberries.
My mother and father both abandoned my family and took my youngest sister with them. My family are still trying to find them. My grandmother, aunt, and two cousins lived near my previous home and are the safer members of my family. I have one older sister and we have 2 older brothers, one of which is presently in jail.
My social workers and counsellors will work to provide me necessary support as I adjust to life in the SHE Rescue Home. I will start my education and have been able to enrol in a private school, and my social workers will assess the safety and reintegration capability within my extended family and community. My counsellors will also work with me and provide trauma counselling for the abuse I’ve survived. Most importantly, I will be safe where I can play, learn, and be a child.
